Senior Food Program


BSAO is a distribution partner for Harry Chapin Food Bank’s Commodity Supplemental Food Program (Care and Share).

Once a month eligible seniors receive a free 30-pound box of grocery staples to help supplement the cost of food. Each box is worth approximately $50 and typically includes:

  • Fruit Juices
  • Cereal
  • Rice or Pasta
  • Cheese
  • Shelf-Stable Milk
  • Canned Fruits
  • Pasta Sauce
  • Powdered Milk
  • Canned lower-sodium vegetables
  • Protein such as canned Meat

Eligibility Guidelines


  • Must be at least 60 years old.
  • Proof of residency.
  • Proof that household income is at or below 130 percent of federal poverty guidelines (One person – $1,307 monthly income, Two people – $1,760 monthly income)
